Home Power Facts

How long does a power station take to charge?

From a wall outlet, most power stations we track can refill in about 1 to 4 hours at their maximum AC charging rate; the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus is fastest at about 41 min (1,500 W). On solar, even at each station's maximum solar input, a full charge takes about 0.3 to 1.2 days of average US sun (Dallas, TX). These are lower limits: charging slows near full.

Wall = rated capacity ÷ the maximum AC charging watts the maker publishes. Solar = rated capacity ÷ (maximum solar input × 75% real-world derate), in peak-sun hours; days = those hours ÷ 5.4 peak sun hours a day (Dallas, TX, NREL). Both are lower limits: charging slows as the battery fills, and reaching the solar maximum takes enough panels wired within the station's voltage range. "—" means the maker publishes a charge time but no wattage (Jackery gives "15 A max" and times on its pages). Charge time with a specific panel: solar panels.

From a car's 12 V socket

Car charging is slow: stations take about 100 W from a 12 V socket, which is itself limited (one carmaker gives 120 W[source]). That makes a full charge of a 1,000 Wh station take about 10 hours of driving.

Hours = rated capacity ÷ car input watts, a lower limit. Some stations charge faster from a 24 V truck socket or a separate alternator charger, which are not covered here.
