Can a portable power station run an electric blanket (queen)?

Yes. All 15 portable power stations we track can run an electric blanket (queen), for about 0.9 h (EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus) to 11.2 h (Anker SOLIX F3800) on a full charge.

How these runtimes are calculated: runtime = usable capacity ÷ average draw of 260 W (the running draw, assumed on the whole time). Usable capacity is an independent test's measured figure, or 80% of rated capacity where none exists, marked "(est.)". A model must also carry the running watts continuously and the startup peak within its surge rating. The same formula applies to every model; see the methodology.

What size do you need?

What size power station do I need for an electric blanket (queen)?

Look for at least 260 W of continuous AC output and 260 W of surge. For capacity, an electric blanket (queen) averages about 260 W, so 8 hours needs roughly 2,600 Wh of rated capacity and 24 hours roughly 7,800 Wh, assuming 80% of rated capacity reaches the outlets.

How long will a 1,000 Wh power station run an electric blanket (queen)?

About 3.1 h for a generic 1,000 Wh unit, if its inverter can handle the 260 W startup surge: roughly 800 Wh (80% of rated) reaches the outlets, divided by an average draw of 260 W. Measured models of this size vary; see the table above.

Which power station can run an electric blanket (queen) for a full day?

None of the 15 models we track runs an electric blanket (queen) for 24 hours on one charge. Plan to recharge (solar or grid) during the day, or add an expansion battery.

What an electric blanket (queen) draws

Running watts260 W[source]Biddeford Blankets electrical specifications: 'Queen Size - 130 Watts Per Side (120Vac)', two controllers; 2 x 130 = 260 W with both sides on. This is the rated maximum; the thermostat cycles the heat, so average draw is usually lower (CWLP's chart estimates about 1 kWh per night), but the site conservatively treats it as continuous.
Startup (surge) watts260 W[source]Resistive heating element, no motor start-up surge; surge = running.
Average draw used above260 W
Voltage120 V

Other brands and sizes differ (Biddeford lists twin and full at 180 W, king at 180 W per side).
